[Daily Token Calls See a Thousand-Fold Increase; Electricity Consumption in Internet Data Services Exceeds 60 Billion kWh This Year] Reporters learned today (the 16th) from the China Electricity Council that since the beginning of this year, new digital energy loads, represented by internet data and charging/swapping services, have experienced explosive growth. Electricity consumption in the national internet data services industry has exceeded 60 billion kWh, an increase of over 40% compared to the same period last year, far surpassing the total level for 2024. With the rapid expansion of new productive forces, emerging industries such as artificial intelligence have become the most certain force supporting the steady growth of electricity consumption across society. The rapid expansion of the artificial intelligence industry has directly driven a rapid increase in the demand for electricity from data centers. Currently, the national daily average token calls have increased a thousand-fold compared to two years ago, leading to a surge in computing power demand. As of the end of July 2026, the total scale of intelligent computing power nationwide will reach 2.45 million PFLOPS, and the eight national computing power hubs and three computing-electricity collaborative development zones have built up an intelligent computing scale accounting for over 85% of the national total.
