On the night of September 16 local time, Al-Masirah TV, controlled by the Houthi rebels in Yemen, released a video showing the Houthi forces shooting down a Saudi F-15 fighter jet that day. Earlier that day, the Houthis claimed to have used a domestically developed surface-to-air missile to shoot down a Saudi F-15 fighter jet conducting "hostile operations" in Marib province in northeastern Yemen. According to reports, after the incident, Saudi Arabia dispatched two groups of F-15 and Typhoon fighter jets to Marib airspace to search for the wreckage of the downed aircraft.
