[Goldman Sachs: Gasoline Prices Expected to Rise Further, Trading Strategy Shifts from Diesel to Gasoline] (1) Goldman Sachs Group said that gasoline prices are expected to rise further as the tight supply situation in the global fuel market spreads. (2) The bank has adjusted its trading strategy, shifting its focus from diesel to gasoline, a widely used vehicle fuel. (3) Analysts including Yulia Zhestkova Grigsby and Daan Struyven said in a report that the key reason for the new recommendation is that refiners are shifting production from gasoline to diesel, leading to a rapid tightening of the gasoline market supply. (4) Analysts said in a report on September 16 that although diesel prices may still rise further, gasoline currently offers "greater upside potential" due to factors such as more resilient demand and relative changes in inventory. (5) Therefore, the bank closed out its previous trading positions on different diesel contract spreads (i.e., time spreads) and recommended establishing long positions in European gasoline for mid-2027.
