[Rubber Market Closes Higher, Supported by Resilient US Demand] ⑴ The Kuala Lumpur rubber market closed higher on Thursday, supported by resilient US consumer demand. ⑵ Traders said that strong US economic data boosted market sentiment, with retail sales rising about 1% in August and business inventories increasing by about 1% in July, indicating robust domestic activity. ⑶ Traders also noted that China's efforts to enhance industrial capacity were another positive factor, with China's strengthening of advanced manufacturing potentially supporting industrial demand. ⑷ However, lower crude oil prices limited gains, and improved Saudi supply and easing concerns about supply in West Asia reduced the risk of disruptions. ⑸ At 3 pm, SMR 20 prices rose about 19 sen per kilogram to 986 sen, and bulk latex rose about 5 sen per kilogram to 715 sen. ⑹ The rubber market was closed on Wednesday for Malaysia Day and resumed trading on Thursday.
