[South Africa's Building Permits Rise 4.1% Year-on-Year in July, Growth Narrows] ⑴ In July 2026, South Africa's approved building area increased by 4.1% year-on-year to approximately 9.335 billion square meters, compared to an upwardly revised 34.3% increase in the previous month. ⑵ Residential building permits further increased, rising from 8% in June to 12.2%. ⑶ Non-residential building permits decreased by 5.5%, compared to a 154.2% increase in the previous month; permits for additions and alterations decreased by 0.6%, compared to a 10.8% increase in the previous month.
