[USDA Drought Report: Drought Percentage Remains Stable in Soybean and Corn Growing Areas, Significantly Higher in Cotton and Spring Wheat] ⑴ USDA Drought Monitoring Service data shows that as of September 15, 2026, the proportion of major U.S. crop growing areas experiencing moderate to severe drought was approximately 27% in soybean growing areas, unchanged from the previous week and down about 9 percentage points from approximately 36% at the same time last year. ⑵ The drought percentage in corn growing areas was approximately 24%, down about 1 percentage point from the previous week and down about 1 percentage point from approximately 25% at the same time last year. ⑶ The drought percentage in cotton growing areas was approximately 65%, up about 2 percentage points from the previous week and up about 24 percentage points from approximately 41% at the same time last year. ⑷ The drought percentage in winter wheat growing areas was approximately 57%, down about 2 percentage points from the previous week and up about 13 percentage points from approximately 44% at the same time last year. ⑸ The drought percentage in spring wheat growing areas was approximately 56%, down about 1 percentage point from the previous week and up about 43 percentage points from approximately 13% at the same time last year.
