[India’s state-owned infrastructure finance institution approves loans of more than 30 billion rupees for at least four data centers] (1) India’s largest state-owned infrastructure finance institution has approved loans of more than 30 billion rupees (US$313 million) for each of at least four data centers, reflecting India’s push to participate in artificial intelligence construction. (2) Rajkiran Rai G., managing director of the National Infrastructure and Development Finance Bank of India, said in an interview that these financing arrangements have a grace period of up to five years, followed by repayment over the next ten years. (3) Such loan demand indicates that Indian companies are spending more on large projects such as data centers. (4) Global investors, from EQT AB and Blackstone Group to Alphabet Inc., as well as local conglomerates such as Adani Group, have also committed billions of dollars to build artificial intelligence computing infrastructure in the country.
