[Former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak to Serve Remaining Sentence Through Home Imprisonment] On September 18, local time, the Malaysian Amnesty Department announced that former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak would be allowed to serve the remainder of his sentence through home imprisonment until August 2028. Najib served as Prime Minister of Malaysia from 2009 to 2018. After taking office, he established a sovereign wealth fund called "1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB)". In July 2020, the Kuala Lumpur High Court found Najib guilty of seven charges, including embezzlement and money laundering, in the case of SRC International, a former subsidiary of 1MDB, sentencing him to 12 years in prison and a fine of 210 million ringgit.
