[Eurozone Consumer Inflation Expectations Rise Slightly in August] ⑴ In August 2026, the median expectation of price increases by Eurozone consumers over the next 12 months rose to 3% from 2.9%. ⑵ Inflation expectations for the next 3 years also rose to 2.9% from 2.7%, and inflation expectations for the next 5 years rose to 2.5% from 2.4%. ⑶ Uncertainty surrounding inflation expectations for the next 12 months decreased, but remained above pre-Middle East conflict levels. ⑷ Low-income households continued to perceive and expect higher inflation than high-income groups, and younger consumers' expectations remained more moderate than those of older respondents. ⑸ In addition, nominal income growth expectations remained flat at 1%, economic growth expectations remained at -1.2%, and the expectation for the unemployment rate over the next 12 months fell to 11% from 11.2%. ⑹ Consumers expect owner-occupied home prices to rise by 3.4% and mortgage rates to rise by 4.9% over the next 12 months, both unchanged from July.
