[Bank of England Halts Sale of Ultra-Long-Term Bonds, Narrowing Yield Spread] ⑴ Following the Bank of England's announcement on Thursday that it would no longer sell ultra-long-term UK government bonds, the yield spread between short-term and long-term UK government bonds narrowed. ⑵ This move eased market concerns about a large supply of long-term UK government bonds, with the 30-year UK government bond yield falling to a three-week low of approximately 5.725% on Thursday. ⑶ After the announcement, the spread between 2-year and 30-year UK government bond yields narrowed from approximately 110 basis points to approximately 94 basis points.
