[US Manufacturing Output Unexpectedly Declines 0.3% in August] ⑴ US manufacturing output unexpectedly declined in August as manufacturers faced rising input costs and a slowdown in equipment production. ⑵ Data showed that manufacturing output fell 0.3% in August. The median forecast from economists surveyed was for a 0.3% increase. ⑶ Overall industrial output, including mining and utilities, stagnated. Utilities output rose 1.8%, while mining output saw a slight increase.
