[European stock markets closed lower across the board, with the FTSE 100 leading the decline] ⑴ The FTSE 100 index in London closed at 10659.13 points on the 18th, down 157.01 points, or 1.45%, from the previous trading day. ⑵ All three major European stock indices fell on the day. ⑶ The top five gainers among London constituent stocks were: IG Group (up 2.13%), Fresnillo (up 1.03%), Comptacent (up 0.93%), AstraZeneca (up 0.58%), and DCC (up 0.55%). ⑷ The top five losers were: Afrika Korps (down 11.27%), Coca-Cola Greece (down 7.85%), Mettern Energy & Metals (down 5.51%), British Telecom (down 5.45%), and Entan (down 5.15%). ⑸ The CAC 40 index in Paris closed at 8065.02 points, down 121.91 points, or 1.49%. 11 The German DAX index in Frankfurt closed at 25,304.06 points, down 412.65 points, or 1.60%.
