[Zhangjiajie Receives Nearly One Million Inbound Tourists from January to August] Leveraging its unique quartz sandstone peak forest landform, Zhangjiajie in Hunan Province has moved beyond traditional mountain and water tourism, focusing on high-end extreme sports events and popular high-altitude experience projects to create an immersive international outdoor sports destination, attracting a large number of overseas tourists. Data shows that from January to August 2026, Zhangjiajie received 994,500 inbound tourists, a year-on-year increase of 20.47%; and achieved tourism foreign exchange earnings of US$109.61 million, a year-on-year increase of 40%.
