According to the National Energy Administration, electricity consumption by industry was as follows: Primary industry consumed 16.9 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 2.7%. Secondary industry consumed 612.4 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 2.4%; among which, industrial electricity consumption was 606.5 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 2.7%, with high-tech and equipment manufacturing maintaining rapid growth, reaching 122.2 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 7.2%. Computer and communication equipment (7.5%), automobile manufacturing (7.6%, of which new energy vehicles accounted for 22.2%), general equipment manufacturing (7.6%), special equipment manufacturing (8.2%), and electrical machinery (12.3%) saw relatively rapid growth in electricity consumption. Tertiary industry consumed 215.5 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 5.1%; among which, charging and swapping services and internet data services saw strong growth, reaching 17.2 billion and 10.2 billion kWh respectively, with growth rates of 51.2% and 37.9% respectively. Electricity consumption for urban and rural residents was 188.3 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year decrease of 4.0%. The main reason for the decrease was that there were more typhoons and heavy rainfalls in August 2026 than in August 2025, resulting in a significant reduction in air conditioning electricity consumption.
