By age group, there are approximately 29.11 million people aged 70 and over, 21.68 million aged 75 and over, and 12.88 million aged 80 and over. The data also shows that by 2025, the number of employed people aged 65 and over in Japan will be approximately 9.43 million, marking the 22nd consecutive year of increase; the proportion of employed people aged 65 and over in the total employed population will be approximately 13.8%, a record high.
