Market-making giant Jane Street Group recently entered the leveraged ETF swap contract service market, becoming another key player in this field. The firm officially launched its business earlier this year, and in the second quarter of 2024 alone, it provided swap contracts with a notional size of approximately $1.2 billion for about 75 leveraged and inverse single-stock ETFs. According to industry data, Jane Street currently holds approximately 2% market share in the single-stock ETF swap business, while Clear Street, the leading institution in this field, holds approximately 21% market share, followed closely by Marex Group with approximately 11%. The total size of leveraged ETFs in the US market reached a historical peak of over $200 billion in the second quarter. Jane Street's entry into this business reflects both the increasing commercial attractiveness of the leveraged ETF sector and the growing presence of professional market makers in financial services sectors previously dominated by large banks. Currently, non-bank dealers already dominate the single-stock ETF business, creating direct competition with traditional Wall Street banks.
