[LNG Carrier Attacked by Drone Near Strait of Hormuz, All Crew Safe] ⑴ A Liberian-flagged LNG carrier was attacked by a drone while sailing outside the Strait of Hormuz. Nine of the 19 crew members on board were Indian. ⑵ The vessel, MT Al Maryah, did not suffer major damage. Its main engine and electrical systems remain operational. It is currently anchored in Khor Fekhan, off the east coast of the UAE. ⑶ Security risks in this critical shipping lane have been rising recently. Regional conflicts have significantly reduced traffic, disrupting global energy supplies. ⑷ Maritime data shows that there are 145 Indian seafarers in the Persian Gulf region, and nine other vessels with Indian interests operate there. ⑸ Several ships carrying Indian seafarers have recently been attacked, resulting in casualties; no injuries were reported in this LNG carrier attack.
