U.S. stocks opened the week higher, buoyed by lower oil prices and Treasury yields. Hopes for a diplomatic end to the Iran war boosted oil prices and eased inflation concerns. At 9:49 a.m. New York time, the S&P 500 was up 0.6%, the Nasdaq 100 was up 1.5%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.2%. Renewed strength in chipmakers also boosted market sentiment. Brent crude fell for the fourth consecutive trading day, and if the decline continues, it will be the longest losing streak since June. The yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury note fell below 5%. A strategist at Bespoke Investment Group said, "The only real factors driving the market higher are lower oil prices and lower Treasury yields. These are enough now, as the stock market has been influenced by the energy and bond markets."
