[International Atomic Energy Agency: Frequent Attacks Near Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant Continue to Risk Nuclear Safety] The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported on September 21 that multiple drone and other military attacks near the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in recent weeks have caused numerous casualties and may pose a threat to nuclear safety. Earlier this month, related incidents included a drone attack on a training center surrounding the power plant, an attack on a shipment of diesel fuel used for emergency generators, and multiple attacks in the nearby city of Energodar, where a large number of nuclear power plant workers reside. IAEA Director General Grossi expressed "deep concern," noting that these incidents once again highlight the continued risks to nuclear safety and to nuclear power plant workers and their families posed by ongoing conflict.
