Vale will bring its vision of "Mining for the Future" to the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in collaboration with Amazon Digital Art.
Shanghai, China, October 19, 2026 – November 5-10, the world-renowned China International Import Expo (CIIE) will be held in Shanghai for the ninth time. Vale, a long-time participant, will once again exhibit under the theme "Embarking on a New Journey in the 15th Five-Year Plan, Shaping the Future of Mining." In addition to showcasing a variety of high-quality mineral products, Vale will also use the CIIE platform to comprehensively introduce its new vision, "The Future of Mining," and will present a meticulously crafted immersive viewing cabin and an augmented reality (AR) interactive digital art exhibition, aiming to provide visitors with a refreshing exhibition experience. Visitors who visit the Vale booth (Hall 2.2, Booth 2.2B1-01) during the CIIE and participate in interactive activities will also have the opportunity to win exquisite art-themed blind boxes.

Vale is a trustworthy long-term partner of China. We have always resonated with China's development and are working hand in hand with our Chinese partners to shape a "future mining industry" characterized by intelligentization and green development. We hope to convey a key message through this year's CIIE: Vale looks forward to seizing the new development opportunities brought by the 15th Five-Year Plan and working together with China towards a more sustainable and better future,” said Ms. Xie Xue, President of Vale China. Ms. Xie Xue also stated, “The CIIE is not only a window for companies to showcase their products and services, but also an important platform for cultural exchanges between countries. This year coincides with the ‘China-Brazil Year of Culture,’ and Vale, as a pioneer in China-Brazil economic and trade cooperation, continues to support the deepening of cultural exchanges between the two countries. We are honored to bring the unique perspectives and innovative expressions of Brazilian artists to this year’s CIIE, adding a vivid narrative from the Amazon to China-Brazil cultural exchanges, while also enabling the people of both countries to better unite in their consensus on protecting forests and nature for future generations. Cherishing the Earth and respecting society have always been among Vale’s core values and are also an important part of the company’s ‘Mining for the Future’ vision.”One of the highlights: Getting closer to the "mining of the future"
(Vale's demonstration plant in Itabira, Minas Gerais, Brazil. This plant integrates artificial intelligence into its operational processes to improve safety and efficiency.) At this year's China International Import Expo (CIIE), Vale will systematically showcase its "Mining for the Future" vision, comprised of five strategic pillars: "Intelligent Operations," "Minimized Disruption Operations," "Zero Waste, Zero Tailings, and Carbon Neutrality," "Value Sharing," and "Future Talent." This will demonstrate how the company is using technological innovation to drive the mining industry towards greater safety, intelligence, and sustainability. Vale is translating its "Mining for the Future" vision into a series of concrete actions across operations, logistics, and talent development. The company utilizes real-time optimization systems, video analytics, digital twins, and other AI applications to improve the operational performance of its mines, concentrators, railway networks, and ports. The company is also reducing its operational footprint and advancing decarbonization by implementing circular mining solutions such as the "Waste to Treasure Program" and renewable energy solutions such as the "Eco-Shipping Program." The "Waste to Treasure Program" includes the production and sale of sustainable sand. Furthermore, the company has developed and applied its patented PET-based dust suppressant. By 2025, Vale had invested a total of US$685 million in research, development, and innovation. At the same time, Vale consciously shares the value it creates with stakeholders by implementing its Poverty Alleviation Partnership program to leave a positive and lasting impact on the communities in which it operates, and by providing ongoing support for the protection and restoration of biomes in regions such as the Amazon through the Vale Foundation.Highlight Two: An Immersive Experience of "The Everlasting Forest"
(Experience "Living Forest" in an Immersive Viewing Capsule) At this year's China International Import Expo (CIIE), Vale will ingeniously construct a semi-circular immersive viewing capsule within its booth. Visitors entering the capsule can enjoy "Living Forest," an environmentally themed film created by Brazilian artist Estevão Ciavatta at Vale's invitation. "Living Forest" uses the water cycle as its narrative thread, poetically presenting the cyclical natural processes of the Amazon rainforest—rainwater seeps into the soil, forming rivers that nourish trees; the trees, through transpiration, return the water to the sky, and everything begins anew. Water is the source of all life, present in every life form within the forest. It is this water cycle that makes the Amazon one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth. "Living Forest" will guide viewers through a stunning, immersive audio-visual experience, leading them to follow the water cycle and immerse themselves in watching, listening, and experiencing the Amazon. Esteban Cavata is a director, screenwriter, and producer who has won numerous awards for dozens of works, including the virtual reality film "The Amazon That Never Dies," the environmental advocacy project "Yatoba: The Refugee Tree," and the documentary "The Amazon Unveiled."Highlight Three: Awakening "Symbiosis" with AR Interactive Technology
(Awakening "Symbiosis" with AR Interactive Technology) This year, Vale also collaborated with another Brazilian artist, Kambão, to bring the imaginative AR interactive digital art exhibition "Symbiosis" to the China International Import Expo. Kambão is a multimedia artist from the Amazon region of Brazil. The exhibition, themed "Symbiosis," will bring together seven representative works personally selected by the artist: "Two Indigenous Children," "The Great Kambão Frog in the Night," "Porters at the Acai Market," "The Forest Mistress," "Relatives of the Joloca River," "A Modern Jaguar in Green and Pink," and "The Kayapo Mother." In these works, humans, animals, and nature share the same universe—where the boundaries between different life forms constantly flow, revealing the interdependent relationships between various life forms. With the help of AR technology, these works will gain new narrative layers: a man crossing a river can transform into a freshwater dolphin, and the animals will reveal multiple dimensions beyond their visible forms. This vision of symbiosis perfectly aligns with Vale's practices in the Amazon region. Vale has been operating in the Amazon region for over 40 years, helping to protect approximately 800,000 hectares of native forest spread across six contiguous protected areas known as the "Carajás Mosaic." Within this vast forest, Vale integrates biodiversity conservation, scientific research, and sustainable development through a series of initiatives, thereby protecting nature and safeguarding the future for generations to come.About the Danshui River
