[Chinese-built 500kV transmission and transformation ring network in Uruguay officially delivered] A 500kV transmission and transformation ring network in Uruguay, constructed by a Chinese company, was officially delivered on October 30 in Melo, the capital of Cerro Largo Province in northern Uruguay. Andrea Cabrera, President of Uruguay's National Electricity Company, said at the delivery ceremony that the project significantly improves local power infrastructure and the resilience of the national power system, creating better power transmission conditions and holding great significance for the entire country. The project, undertaken by China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), commenced construction in 2021 and is one of the largest energy infrastructure projects undertaken by Chinese companies in Uruguay in recent years. Upon completion, the project will enhance the stability of Uruguay's transmission network and provide better conditions for power exchange with Argentina and Brazil. (Xinhua)
