[Indonesia Trade Outlook: Moderate Surplus Continues] ⑴ RHB economist Wong Xian Yong noted in a report that Indonesia's foreign trade situation is expected to stabilize in the second half of the year and maintain a surplus until the end of 2027. ⑵ He believes that as imports continue to grow faster than exports, the cumulative surplus is likely to remain moderate. ⑶ Export growth should be supported by manufacturing and some commodities, but weakening demand from China for coal and industrial metals may drag down shipments. ⑷ Rising demand for imported industrial inputs and energy will keep import growth strong, thus limiting the potential for further surplus expansion. ⑸ The agency stated that the outlook will depend on global commodity demand, China's economic recovery, and rising domestic industrial and energy import demand.
