European Central Bank (ECB) Governing Council member Nagel stated that the probability of a December rate hike is currently extremely high. He pointed out that unless inflation expectations improve significantly, another ECB rate hike in December is almost inevitable. The ECB just decided last week to keep the deposit rate unchanged at 2.50%, but now monetary policymakers are increasingly inclined to believe that this pause in rate hikes is only a short-term measure. The market currently predicts that inflation will remain above 4% in the coming months, more than double the ECB's 2% inflation target. Bulgarian Central Bank Governor Dimitar Radev also cautioned that the inflation outlook has weakened since September, with inflationary pressures rising.
