[White House official says White House sentiment is "tough and unyielding," emphasizes Trump is not on the ballot] (1) As election results are gradually released, with Democrats expected to win control of the House of Representatives, a White House official told ABC News that the White House sentiment is "tough and unyielding." (2) For weeks, President Donald Trump has been urging voters to pretend he is also on the ballot; now, this White House official emphasizes that Trump is not actually on the ballot. (3) When asked how he would respond to the results so far that night, the official said, "President Trump is not on the ballot, and it turns out that when he is on the ballot, Trump's voters come out to vote." (4) The official added, "Furthermore, the quality of the candidates is important, and President Trump has done a better job of promoting many of the candidates on the ballot than those candidates themselves."
