[Iran's Revolutionary Guard Claims to Have Shot Down a US MQ-1 Drone] Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed on the 4th that it shot down a US MQ-1 drone over Qeshm Island, Iran's border. The IRGC issued a statement saying that its new advanced air defense system tracked and shot down the drone over Qeshm Island. The statement also said that in the past few nights, the enemy had intensified its reconnaissance and intelligence activities in an attempt to probe Iran's air defense system, while simultaneously carrying out a series of "conspiratorial operations" in the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran successfully intercepted multiple times. The statement added that the IRGC Navy continues to monitor the Strait of Hormuz, reaffirming that Iran holds control of the strait, and that "the enemy's attempts to change the existing situation in the region will not succeed."
