【MissionSquare Chief Investment Officer: Core Data from the October US Jobs Report Should Still Be Viewed with Caution】 (1) In a report, MissionSquare Chief Investment Officer Shari Hensrud pointed out that market expectations for the October US jobs report were relatively mild, but a cautious attitude should still be taken towards the core data in the report. (2) She said that data from three reports in the past four months were subsequently revised downwards, resulting in a cumulative loss of about 150,000 jobs; the average monthly increase in jobs over the past three months was only about 50,000. (3) She also mentioned that Brent crude oil prices once approached $118 per barrel in October, while long-term Treasury yields fell below 5%. (4) She believes that these factors are unlikely to be fully reflected in this report; their impact on hiring activity is expected to become apparent in November and December. (5) In addition, the negative impact of rising energy costs may be more severe than the improvement brought about by falling borrowing costs.
