Reports indicate that TSMC intends to enter the advanced memory chip manufacturing market. As the world's largest chip manufacturer, this move will further increase its share in the AI hardware supply chain. Two sources familiar with the matter revealed that TSMC recently initiated production plans for 3D DRAM, a specialized advanced memory chip, in response to a request from its core customer, Nvidia. Currently, the AI hardware market is experiencing rapid demand growth, leading to a widening supply gap for memory chips and a rapid increase in market prices. As a result, chip design companies such as Nvidia and Apple are seeking more diversified supply channels. Earlier this year, Apple raised prices on some products, citing rising memory chip costs.
