The World Gold Council reported that global central banks accelerated their gold purchases in the third quarter, with net purchases totaling 220 tons, a 28% increase from the second quarter and a 10% increase year-on-year. Overall, net gold purchases by global central banks in the first three quarters reached 634 tons, lower than the unusually high levels of the past three years, but still significantly higher than the average level before 2022.
