[UK Flu Season Arrives "Unusually Early" This Year] A report released by the UK Health Security Agency on October 30th stated that this year's flu season in the UK has arrived "unusually early," with a continued rise in cases across all age groups, particularly a surge in infections among minors. Surveillance reports for influenza and other diseases during the week of October 20th to 26th showed that the influenza virus for the 2025/2026 flu season is spreading widely in the community, with activity levels already higher than baseline. Hospital testing data showed that the positivity rate for influenza among children aged 5 to 14 rose to 30.8%, a significant increase from 20% the previous week. Data also showed that the national influenza test positivity rate has increased, with an average positivity rate of 8.2% for the week ending October 26th, compared to 6.1% the previous week.
