[The 42nd Chinese Antarctic Expedition's Oceanographic Team on the Xue Long Begins Oceanographic Research Operations] On the 16th, while en route to the Amundsen Sea on the 42nd Chinese Antarctic Expedition, the Xue Long's oceanographic team braved westerly winds with 4-meter swells and Force 7 gales to deploy the first disposable depth-temperature thermometer of the voyage. This marks the official commencement of oceanographic research operations. Zhang Haifeng, the team leader, explained that the team consists of 31 members from 12 domestic research institutes and universities.
