According to the State Grid Shanxi Electric Power Company, Shanxi's renewable energy power generation reached 118 billion kWh in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 26%, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of approximately 35 million households. This saved about 36 million tons of standard coal and reduced carbon dioxide emissions by about 88 million tons. In the same year, Shanxi added 16.914 million kilowatts of grid-connected wind and solar renewable energy capacity, a year-on-year increase of 53.1%. By the end of 2025, Shanxi's renewable energy installed capacity reached 78.808 million kilowatts, accounting for nearly 50% of the province's total installed capacity, and the green and low-carbon transformation of the energy structure continued to accelerate. High-quality development of renewable energy cannot be separated from the support of a strong power grid. Since the 14th Five-Year Plan, State Grid Shanxi Electric Power has built and put into operation 26 renewable energy collection stations, effectively supporting the grid connection of more than 40 million kilowatts of renewable energy. In addition, Shanxi has absorbed renewable energy through market-based means. In 2025, renewable energy market-based trading volume reached 22.2 billion kWh, accounting for 18.8% of renewable energy power generation.
