COMEX silver speculators increased their net long positions by 1,575 contracts to 6,160 contracts; COMEX copper futures speculators reduced their net long positions by 1,570 contracts to 52,700 contracts.
In the week ending February 17, oil speculators reduced their net long positions in West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil by 2,904 contracts to 67,884 contracts. Natural gas speculators on the four major markets—NYMEX and ICE—reduced their net long positions by 19,927 contracts to 124,810 contracts.
As of the week ending February 17, 2026, net long positions in the Japanese yen were 12,955 contracts. Net long positions in the euro were 174,480 contracts. Net short positions in the British pound were 42,404 contracts. Net short positions in the Swiss franc were 40,881 contracts. Speculators' bearish sentiment towards the US dollar reached its highest level since 2021.
As of the week ending February 17, speculators increased their net short positions in Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) 5-year U.S. Treasury futures by 42,478 contracts to 2,157,242 contracts.
As of the week ending February 17, equity fund speculators increased their net short positions in the CME S&P 500 by 36,990 contracts to 451,647 contracts. Equity fund managers increased their net long positions in the CME S&P 500 by 47,648 contracts to 968,659 contracts.
As of the week ending February 17, CBOT wheat speculators' net short positions decreased by 11,340 contracts to 77,720 contracts; CBOT corn speculators' net short positions decreased by 12,928 contracts to 155,757 contracts; and CBOT soybean speculators' net long positions increased by 38,813 contracts to 115,240 contracts.
As of the week ending February 17, ICE cotton speculators' net short positions increased by 3,652 contracts to 75,430 contracts; ICE cocoa speculators' net short positions decreased by 2,366 contracts to 24,543 contracts; rock sugar speculators' net short positions increased by 25,552 contracts to 255,114 contracts; and iced coffee speculators' net long positions decreased by 603 contracts to 2,263 contracts.
