[Egypt Raises Electricity Prices to Cope with Energy Crisis] Egypt's Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy issued a statement saying that starting in April, commercial electricity prices will increase by an average of 20%; for residential electricity consumption, the portion exceeding the prescribed tiered consumption limit will see an average price increase of 16%. The statement said that about 40% of residential users on the Egyptian power grid are at lower tiers in terms of electricity consumption, and most of them will not be affected by the price increase. The Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy stated that due to the global energy crisis triggered by the US-Israel-Iraq war, the above price increase measures were unavoidable to ensure the electricity needs of all Egyptians.
