[Thailand's jewelry exports fell by nearly 30% in February, while gold exports bucked the trend and grew by 18%] (1) According to the Thai newspaper The Nation, Thailand's gem and jewelry exports excluding gold in February 2026 amounted to US$1.62404 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 29.32%, reversing the growth trend in January; if gold is included, the total export value was US$2.72777 billion, a decrease of 15.59%. (2) In the first two months of 2026, exports excluding gold amounted to US$3.43216 billion, a decrease of 14.88%; while exports including gold increased by 18.92% to US$7.29397 billion. Gold remained the best performing category, with exports in February reaching US$1.10374 billion, an increase of 18.22%, marking the seventh consecutive month of growth. (3) Factors driving the growth in gold exports include: rising international gold prices, geopolitical tensions between the US, Israel, and Iran, new tariffs imposed by the US under Section 122, and continued purchases by the SPDR Gold Trust. Gold exports totaled US$3.86181 billion in the first two months, an increase of 83.76%.
