[Application for the Second Batch of National Retail Industry Innovation and Upgrading Pilot Cities Launched] The Ministry of Commerce and three other departments recently issued a notice to launch the application process for the second batch of national retail industry innovation and upgrading pilot cities. According to the notice, pilot cities should be prefecture-level cities or above, demonstrating high enthusiasm, a solid foundation, and practical policies in promoting retail development. They should be able to formulate pilot work plans in accordance with the requirements of the Retail Industry Innovation and Upgrading Project Implementation Plan, promote the innovative transformation of the retail industry, explore experiences in revitalizing commercial facilities through "one store, one policy," and create new business formats, models, and scenarios. It is understood that since 2025, the Ministry of Commerce has steadily promoted the construction of the first batch of 38 pilot cities for retail industry innovation and upgrading, achieving positive results in expanding domestic demand, promoting consumption, and benefiting people's livelihoods. The pilot cities have completed 625 renovation and upgrading projects, covering a building area of 24.1 million square meters, driving investment of approximately 75.6 billion yuan. Around the themes of "Shopping in China," consumer goods trade-in programs, time-honored brands, and "15-minute convenient living service month," approximately 5,000 consumer promotion activities have been carried out.
