[US-Iran Ceasefire Eases Helium Transport Concerns, European Semiconductor Stocks Rise] ⑴ Shares of European semiconductor companies rose after US President Trump agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran (on the condition of reopening the Strait of Hormuz). The strait is a key waterway for transporting helium needed to manufacture artificial intelligence chips and has been largely closed in recent weeks. ⑵ Shares of Dutch semiconductor equipment maker ASML and its rival ASM International rose 6.6% and 7.2%, respectively. Shares of Dutch semiconductor assembly equipment supplier BE Semiconductor Industries rose 6.3%. Shares of German chipmaker Infineon Technologies rose 9.6%. STMicroelectronics—which supplies Apple, Samsung Electronics, and Tesla—rose 5.2%.
