[European Fertilizer Stocks Plunge Amid Expectations of Strait of Hormuz Reopening] ⑴ European fertilizer stocks plunged on the news of the Strait of Hormuz's potential reopening, signaling an easing of the global fertilizer shortage. Shares of Norway's Yara International and Germany's K+S both fell by more than 10%. ⑵ Previously, the shares of these two companies had risen by 21% and 14% respectively in the past month due to the actual closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which led to a sharp tightening of exports of urea and other natural gas-based fertilizers. Ammonia is a key component of fertilizer production, and Yara has a relatively high production of renewable ammonia, meaning the company benefits from rising fertilizer prices while being less affected by increased supply costs.
