[Qatar Mobilizes Engineers to Resume Production at World’s Largest LNG Plant Following Ceasefire] (1) According to sources, Qatar is mobilizing engineers and workers to resume production at the world’s largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) export plant following a ceasefire agreement in the Middle East war. (2) Improved security conditions have allowed limited activity to proceed, and the facility is undergoing necessary maintenance as planned before restarting. Partial production may resume in the coming days, but the pace of resumption is uncertain, and significant production recovery will require ships to be able to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. (3) The Ras Lafan plant, which shut down in early March, triggered a global gas supply shortage. Last month’s missile attack damaged the plant and could result in a loss of up to 17% of Qatar’s annual export capacity for up to five years, but restarting other parts is still a significant milestone. Qatar Energy has not yet responded.
