[Saudi Pipeline Attacked, Drones Strike at the Heart of Oil Prices] ⑴ According to two sources familiar with the matter, a vital east-west oil pipeline in Saudi Arabia was attacked by a drone. The 1,200-kilometer-long pipeline transports crude oil from the Gulf region to the Red Sea for export. ⑵ Since shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has been nearly shut down, this pipeline has become the economic lifeline of Saudi Arabia. Sources said that around 1 p.m. on Wednesday (6 p.m. Beijing time), one of several pumping stations along the pipeline was attacked. ⑶ This attack directly threatens a key node in the global energy supply chain, sharply escalating market concerns about the security of Middle Eastern crude oil transportation.
