Nick Timiraos of "The New Fed Watch" points out that the Fed meeting minutes indicate that "the vast majority" of officials felt that inflation was slowing at a slower pace than expected, mainly due to three intertwined concerns: the impact of tariffs on commodity prices may take longer to subside; oil prices are transmitting towards core inflation; and years of inflation above target have made inflation expectations more vulnerable to a new round of shocks.
