[US Navy plans to increase Tomahawk missile procurement by 13 times, Army simultaneously enhances strike capabilities] (1) According to Pentagon budget documents, the US Navy plans to request $3 billion in fiscal year 2027 to procure 785 Tomahawk cruise missiles, an increase of about 13 times compared to the 55 missiles procured this fiscal year. (2) In addition to the new procurement, the Navy also requested $1.5 billion to upgrade existing missiles, 217% higher than the amount in fiscal year 2026, with a total Tomahawk missile inventory target set at 3,992. (3) The US Army also requested $2.7 billion for MRC ground launchers (capable of launching Tomahawk and SM-6 missiles), 32 times higher than this year's allocation ($82 million, for only 13 missiles).
