As of the week ending April 21, net long positions in COMEX silver decreased to 8,863 contracts, a seven-week low. Net long positions in COMEX copper increased to 59,132 contracts, a more than three-month high. Net long positions in NYMEX platinum were reduced, while net short positions in NYMEX palladium were increased.
As of the week ending April 21, crude oil speculators increased their net long positions in West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil by 5,332 contracts to 111,915 contracts, while natural gas speculators on the four major markets of the New York Mercantile Exchange and the Intercontinental Exchange increased their net short positions by 9,557 contracts to 22,734 contracts.
As of the week ending April 21, equity fund managers increased their net long positions in S&P 500 futures contracts by 9,443 contracts to 1,020,550 contracts. Equity fund speculators reduced their net short positions by 12,644 contracts to 402,253 contracts.
As of the week ending April 21, the net long position in the euro was 41,324 contracts. The net short position in the yen was 94,460 contracts, the net short position in the pound was -52,039 contracts, and the net short position in the Swiss franc was -33,273 contracts.
As of the week ending April 21, speculators increased their net short positions in CBOT U.S. 2-year Treasury futures by 39,547 contracts to 1,743,353 contracts, decreased their net short positions in U.S. 5-year Treasury futures by 92,995 contracts to 1,532,750 contracts, decreased their net short positions in U.S. 10-year Treasury futures by 9,394 contracts to 790,971 contracts, and decreased their net short positions in ultra-long-term Treasury futures by 536 contracts to 300,287 contracts. They also increased their net short positions in Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) U.S. Treasury futures by 9,670 contracts to 83,786 contracts.
As of the week ending April 21, cotton speculators increased their net long positions by 12,557 contracts to 67,579 contracts, while cocoa speculators reduced their net short positions by 2,322 contracts to 33,157 contracts. Speculators increased their net short positions in sugar by 11,335 contracts to 162,691 contracts, and their net long positions in iced coffee decreased by 3,974 contracts to 14,024 contracts.
