[Warsh Sworn In as Federal Reserve Chairman] On March 22, local time, Kevin Warsh was sworn in as the new Chairman of the Federal Reserve in Washington, D.C. President Trump held an inauguration ceremony for Warsh at the White House that day. Trump stated that he hoped Warsh would be a "completely independent" Fed chairman. It is understood that the ceremony was not held at the Fed headquarters as is customary, but rather at the White House. Trump announced his nomination of Warsh as the new Fed chairman via social media on January 30. In early March, the White House submitted Warsh's nomination to the Senate to serve as a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors and the next Fed chairman.
