[LNG Shipping Quietly Resumes in the Gulf, India Receives Middle Eastern Cargo for First Time in Months] 1. A liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier bound for India has successfully exited the Strait of Hormuz. This marks the first time India has received such cargo from the Persian Gulf region since the outbreak of hostilities with Iran months ago, as regional exporters are quietly resuming supplies to their major customers. 2. Ship tracking data shows that the Abu Dhabi National Oil Logistics Services (ADNOC) tanker "Hamra" recently departed fully loaded with LNG, bound for western India. The ship had its location signal turned off around April 19th and was then empty, waiting at the eastern entrance of the Strait of Hormuz. 3. Ship data analysis agency Kepler stated that during the signal interruption, the tanker completed loading at the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company's Das Island export terminal in the Persian Gulf, inside the strait. Satellite imagery shows that LNG carriers are still docked at the terminal, but surrounding vessels are not using location broadcasts. 4. Shipping data shows that India used to import more than half of its liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar and the UAE, but in recent months, related shipments have almost completely ceased. The sharp drop in supply has forced India to turn to the higher-priced spot market and has also had to reduce some of its industrial gas quotas.
