White House chief economic advisor Hassett pointed out that ending the conflict with Iran could create room for the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates. Hassett stated that the White House anticipates that if an agreement is reached with Iran, energy prices will decline; and once energy prices fall, the Fed will have the policy space to cut interest rates. He suggested that the current rapid rise in US inflation is mainly driven by energy prices, and once energy prices fall, the US could even experience deflation.
