[India Raises Fuel Prices for Fourth Time Since May, Diesel and Gasoline Up by Rs. 2.71 and 2.61 Per Liter, respectively] (1) India’s state-owned fuel retailers raised diesel and gasoline prices on Monday, with diesel increasing by Rs. 2.71 per liter and gasoline by Rs. 2.61 per liter. (2) This is the fourth time India has raised fuel prices since May, in an effort to offset some of the losses caused by the war with Iran that has driven up crude oil costs. The state-owned fuel retailers, which control about 90% of India’s fuel market share, began raising retail fuel prices on May 15 following elections in some key states. (3) Since then, Indian Oil, Bharat Oil and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation have collectively raised diesel prices by about 8.6% and gasoline by about 7.8%. Currently, gasoline in New Delhi is priced at Rs. 102.12 per liter and diesel at Rs. 95.20 per liter.
