[Thailand's April car production hits five-year low, dragged down by Middle East conflict and declining exports] (1) The Federation of Thai Industries stated that due to the impact of the Middle East conflict on exports and rising energy prices, April's car production fell 0.44% year-on-year to 103,794 vehicles, the lowest in five years; while March's production had increased by 2.69% year-on-year. (2) Benefiting from orders from the Bangkok Auto Show, domestic car sales increased slightly by 2.54% to 48,394 vehicles; however, car exports fell 8.43% to 60,190 vehicles that month. (3) Thailand is the largest car production base in Southeast Asia, with automakers such as Toyota, Honda, BYD, and Great Wall Motors having established operations there. The Federation maintains its forecast of a 3% increase in car production to 1.5 million vehicles by 2026 (last year's production was 1.455 million vehicles, a slight decrease of 0.9%).
