[Iranian Foreign Ministry: Conclusions Reached on Several Issues in Potential Memorandum of Understanding with the US, But Not Close to Signing Agreement] ⑴ A spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that many issues discussed in the potential memorandum of understanding with the United States have been concluded, but this does not mean Tehran is close to signing an agreement. ⑵ Spokesperson Esmail Bagae added that Iran is negotiating to end the conflict and is not currently negotiating on the nuclear issue, reiterating that changes in the position of US officials have made it difficult to reach any agreement. ⑶ A senior Iranian diplomat told the media that Iran is willing to discuss its nuclear program and the issue of highly enriched uranium with the United States, provided that Washington respects the commitments in the potential memorandum of understanding currently being negotiated. Hossein Nushabadi stated that these issues will be resolved within the framework of 60 days of negotiations in exchange for the lifting of sanctions and the unfreezing of Iranian overseas assets. ⑷ US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the United States will reach a satisfactory agreement with Iran, otherwise it will deal with the country "in other ways." Rubio said that the United States will give diplomacy every chance to succeed before exploring "alternatives." (5) Rubio stated that "there is a fairly solid proposal on the table regarding opening the Strait, keeping the Strait open, and initiating very specific, meaningful, and time-bound nuclear negotiations," and expressed his hope that the U.S. side would succeed.
