[Russian Grain Exports by Sea Doubled Year-on-Year in April, Black Sea Route Surges 89%] ⑴ Shipping data released by industry organizations on Monday showed that Russian grain exports by sea in April increased by 100.1% year-on-year, reaching 4.9 million tons. ⑵ So far this quarter, total seaborne grain exports have reached 46 million tons, up 7.4% year-on-year. Among them, exports from Black Sea terminals, the main channel for Russian grain exports, increased by 89.0% year-on-year in April, reaching 4.1 million tons. ⑶ Shipments from Caspian ports to the Iranian market in April were nearly 300,000 tons, slightly lower than March levels; while exports from Baltic Sea terminals supplying Russian grain to emerging markets such as Africa and Latin America surged by 127.8% year-on-year to 400,000 tons, and exports from Far East terminals increased by 21.5%. ⑷ From a trading perspective, Russian grain exports accelerated across the board in April, especially the doubling of exports from the Baltic Sea, reflecting its active expansion into diversified markets beyond the traditional Black Sea route. This, to some extent, mitigates the transportation risks brought about by geopolitics and helps stabilize global grain supply expectations.
