[Bank of Japan's new inflation indicator shows: Core inflation rose to 2.8% in April, far exceeding the government's benchmark data] (1) The Bank of Japan said on Tuesday that, measured by a newly established inflation indicator, the core consumer inflation rate, excluding one-off factors, rose to 2.8% in April, higher than the 2% target level and further accelerated from 2.5% in March. (2) This new indicator excludes institutional factors such as education and energy subsidies. (3) The year-on-year increase in this indicator is significantly higher than the benchmark core consumer price index (1.4%) released by the Japanese government last week.
